TRANSPORT OF SAMUI

TRANSPORT SAMUI

Despite the miniature size of Koh Samui, travel options are very diverse. Taxis, group transfers, tuk-tuks, motorbikes, ferries and much more at your choice. Driving on the island is left-sided, which is unusual for many of us. There is also the opportunity to travel by ferry, a very common form of transport for tourists. You have many options to get to your destination quickly and on a budget.

Taxi

There is a huge number of taxis on Koh Samui, presented in the form we are used to - modern cars that provide a comfortable ride with air conditioning. They can be easily recognized by their bright colors: yellow - red, white or pink.

A very convenient option for the best and most comfortable stay. One of the big advantages of such a movement is that you will be taken to any point in the resort that you specify.

A large company for skiing around the island is given the opportunity to order a minivan taxi for 8 seats. You can order any car of the class that suits you. This transport can be easily caught on the streets or ordered via the Internet.

Taxi is the most convenient and familiar way of transportation for all of us.

Tuk-tuk (Songteo)

Tuk-tuk is the most popular vehicle in Thailand for getting around cities and resorts. From Thai, the word "tuk-tuk" is translated as "cheap".
A tuk-tuk is the body of a pickup car, a songteo, with an open cockpit for passengers and two benches.
Songteo is an elongated pickup truck converted from a truck, with parallel benches and an overhead canopy. These transports are public.
There are only two directions of tuk-tuk functioning: Nathon - Maenam - Bo Put - Chaweng - Lamai and vice versa. The knock-knock robots schedule is consistent with the public. Working hours of transport are from 8:00 to 18:00. This way of getting around guarantees an interesting trip to the wonderful places of the resort with stunning views. You can stop tuk-tuk on the side of the road, since there are no special stops for them. As soon as the pickup stops, you can take an empty seat and drive to the navel of your destination. Press the overhead button to stop.

Mototaxi

A mototaxi is a taxi on a bike (locals call them “motosai”). It's a great and inexpensive way to get around, but pretty extreme. This type of transport has its pros and cons. The advantages are that you do not need to stay in traffic jams for a long time, it is cheaper than any other type of transport. You don't even have to look for them, they themselves offer their servants at every turn. Disadvantages: more than 2 people will not sit on the bike, of course three are possible, but this is not comfortable. Weather conditions, it is unpleasant to ride in the rain, as well as for long distances and not always suitable for traveling with large bags. The drivers are usually dressed in special bright vests (sometimes with the TAXI inscription), which distinguish them from ordinary motorcyclists.
And another tip: try to name the place where you need to get as accurately as possible, otherwise you may end up not at all where you need to go. And tourists are often charged twice as much as locals. Therefore, be sure to find out how much it will cost you before the trip.

Ferry

Ferries are a cheap and convenient means of transportation for locals and tourists to Koh Samui and nearby islands. It may not be as comfortable and fast as airplanes, but a ferry trip will show amazing sea beauties. There are a lot of piers on the island of Koh Samui, all of them differ slightly in comfort, speed of movement and places of departure.
The cost of ferry tickets ranges from 300 to 1050 baht. Koh Samui offers tourists the services of many transport companies that will help to get from the mainland to Koh Samui and vice versa. Each of them has its own pier, schedule, prices and differences. Therefore, it is worth exploring all this in order to choose the right option for yourself.
The most popular routes by ferry: SAMUI - PANGAN, SAMUI - DONSAK, SAMUI - PHUKET, SAMUI - SURATTANI, SAMUI - BANGKOK, SAMUI - KRABI. Traveling by sea is unforgettable.
